cheats of Patna and 15 chests of Benares which was offered at

the upset auction price of 1,600 rupees.

I have consulted the Executive Council on the

subject of the proposal made in your confidential despatch of

the 9th of October for the supply of opium by the Indian

Government for a period of 5 years from 1st January, 1916, at a

fixed price of 2,000 rupees a chest. I am prepared to accept the proposal and I shall be glad if you will inform the Government of India accordingly.
